What Easter is about
Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 by RachelLaura and I had a really deep conversation in the van about Easter and why it was such an important event for us as Christians even more so than Christmas. We talked about how when Jesus died on the cross and took the penalty for our sins it made us free of sin so we could be in the presence of God in heaven. After the question and answer time was done, Laura said, “Mom, I really understand why people like to color Easter eggs and have Easter egg hunts.”
Mom - “Why is that Laura?”
Laura - “Because they don’t want to think about all that serious stuff!”
Isn’t she right on! I suppose it is fun to do those things in celebration as well but they really do not get at the crux of the whole event.
