Kids say the darndest things at funerals

Here are some of the funny quotes we heard kids say at my Grandpa Stan’s funeral and reviewal:

  • After a young friend of Laura’s told her “I’m sorry your grandpa died”, Laura replied “That’s okay….do you want to go see his dead body?”
  •  One of our nephews, after viewing Grandpa in the casket asked, “he died in a suit?!” Some of us were joking later that if the rule was that you always were buried in whatever you were wearing when you died, it would be a bummer to die in the shower (or hopefully it would be closed-casket in that case).
  • Another nephew said, “Do you know that they saw them in half?!”, referring to the half open casket, I suppose…
  • Pastor Joel Sutton’s sermon was on 2 Timothy 4 and how the Christian life well-lived is like a marathon.  One of our young cousins asked his dad in a very loud whisper, “Grandpa was in a marathon??!”
