Grandpa Stan Olson, 1918-2009
Saturday, February 28th, 2009 by JeffMy Grandpa Stan Olson passed away earlier this week. Here are some of my memories of him:
Summers at Prior Lake in the big red cabin. Grandpa as seaweed monster. Tipping him over in his inner tube. Fishing for sunnies on the dock. Hunting for turtles. Being old enough that Grandpa let me and Scott go out in the fishing boat ourselves (with its monster 5 1/4 hp motor). Forced to take an afternoon nap at the lake (who was it that needed the break, I wonder?). Playing on the state of the art Odyssey video game system. Playing whiffleball in the alley with cousins and neighbor kids. Taking the bus downtown to visit Grandpa in the IDS tower. Going up to the top floor to the regency club…free candy and telescopes to look at the city. G & G visiting us in Hong Kong. His encouraging spirit. His friendliness to newcomers at church. My girls’ excitement to see him every week when we picked him up for church. His strong prayer life and enduring faith.
Here is an obituary for Grandpa Olson.
