Going to China!

Praise God, we are going to China to adopt our new daughter! We got our travel approval on Thursday and our U.S. consultate appointment on Friday. Yesterday we made our flight plans and we are getting excited about our trip. Laura and my parents (Ross & Karin) are coming with us.

We are going to be leaving for Hong Kong on Monday July 2nd. We’ll spend 12 days in Hong Kong as a vacation (where I lived with my family until I was 9). Then we’ll head to Nanchang in Jiangxi province where we will receive Helen on July 16th. After a few more days there, we’ll go to Guangzhou for our appointment at the U.S. consulate, and finally return home on July 25th.
Please pray for:

  • Safe travels
  • Good health for all of us
  • The adjustment when Helen joins our family
  • The Chinese and U.S. officials who will be processing our adoption
  • Approval to visit the orphanage (this is only sometimes allowed)
  • God’s presence with us as we meet with old friends in Hong Kong; also as we possibly get together in Guangzhou with family and friends of some of the Chinese friends we have met here in MN
