Say Hello to Helen

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 by Jeff

We are delighted to announce that we are in the process of adopting a little girl from China! If all goes well, Helen will be joining our family in the summer of 2007.

Helen is currently in a foster home in Shangrao, Jiangxi in China. Her Chinese name is Rao Zhan An. Her surname, “Rao”, is based on the name of the city. Her given name, “Zhan An,” means “Unfolding Peace”.

Currently we only have one photograph of Helen, the one we received with the referral. If we get any new pictures, we’ll post them in her photo album.

Where did the animals come from?

Monday, February 19th, 2007 by Jeff

Laura told us this evening that she wanted to pray and ask God “where the animals came from.” After she prayed her short prayer, she told us that God said that “they came from their parents.” I asked her, “But where did their parents come from?”

Laura thought about that for a moment, then said, “They came from their mothers.” Of course, I had to ask, “But where did their mothers come from?”

Laura didn’t hesitate with her answer: “They came from Arizona…it’s really warm there.”

Slime?

Jeff’s mom (Karin) dropped Laura off after their lunch together on Wednesday. Rachel encouraged Laura to give Grandma a hug and kiss before she went. Karin kissed her on the lips and then Laura wiped her own lips off with her arm.

Karin said sadly, “Don’t wipe my kiss off!”

Laura responded, “No, I was just wiping your slime off my lips!”
