The Olson Zoo Weblog

A lot has happened this summer:

• We have grown extremely attached to Elliott, the newest Olson family member (see the May 3 entry).
• Rachel’s sister Emily Matejcek got married to her long-time boyfriend, Bill Neuenschwander on July 7th. Rachel is making the wedding cake for the reception this coming Friday (August 25th).
• Jeff took a guys’ trip to the Boundary Waters with Matt Oakes, Jon Boyum, and Scott Beckett. We covered over 60 miles in four days, taking in a large swath of the eastern BWCA.
• We did some big home improvement projects: residing our garage with vinyl siding (thanks to Bill & Emily N. for their help), and painting our house (thanks for help on this project go to Jennifer Matejcek, Ginny Davis, Ross & Karin Olson (mom & dad!), Chris Pederson, and Jeff & Michelle Casper.)
• We ran in an 8K race in Minnetonka on June 24th. Although no records were shattered, we did both manage to finish in (to us) pretty respectable times. See the results of the race.

Also, we will be taking a trip over Labor Day weekend to the Boundary Waters. It will be Elliott’s first time up there; we’re interested to see how he likes riding in a canoe. We haven’t decided yet if we are going to bring Molly or not; she is getting old (over 70 in dog years!), but she still loves the north woods.
