Elliot joins the family

Yesterday we picked up another foster dog from Second Chance. He is a six-year-old sheltie named Elliot. Of course we think he’s really cute! Our sheltie Molly is her usual jealous self; whenever we start scratching Elliot, she’s right there demanding more attention.

We just got back today from a week-long vacation in Seattle. We had a really fun time. We stayed with Rachel’s aunt Kathy Lapham who lives in the Seattle suburb of Mercer Island. We took two side trips, one to Mount Ranier National Park and another one to Orcas Island, in the San Juan Islands north of Seattle.

During our two-day Mount Ranier trip we stayed at the National Park Inn in Longmire. We took a couple hikes in the Longmire area, both of which had us climbing up to the snow line. On our first hike we had light rain, some snow, and even a bit of sleet falling on us. But we still had a good time!

Our excellent guides on our trip to Orcas Island were Rachel’s cousin Mike Lapham and his girlfriend Stephanie Moe. We camped at a great campground in Moran State Park, did some hiking nearby, and had an excellent hobo-style dinner courtesy of Mike & Steph.

Mike and Steph, along with Kathy, were also our tour guides in Seattle. They showed us some cool parts of the town that we probably would never have seen otherwise. Thanks, Kathy, Mike & Steph!

Also today, I (Jeff) found out that I was accepted to the Masters of Science in Software Engineering program at the University of Minnesota. I will be starting this two-year program in September. I anticipate my life will become much, much busier, as it’s a full-time program, and I’m going to continue working full time. Should be fun! :-)
