Skiing at Fort Snelling

Saturday, January 29th, 2000 by Jeff

Today we went cross-country skiing with Matt Oakes and Tim Hanson. This was the first time that I (Jeff) had ever been xx-skiing, although Rachel’s been trying to get me to go for a while. She has been going quite a bit this winter on the skis that she bought on sale at the end of last winter.

We went down to Fort Snelling State Park, just a three-minute drive away from our house. We were out for about two hours; we estimate that we went about four or five miles in all.

I had a really fun time, although I did get a blister on one heel. In fact, I’ve agreed to buy Rachel’s old skis from her with my “fun fund” money, and she’s going to get some new ones with her “fun fund” that are better suited to her new lighter weight (yes, skis are sized based on your weight, and yes, I now actually weigh a little bit less than what Rachel weighed last winter!)

Well, this is the first entry on the news page. Today we adopted out another dog (we are foster dog parents for an organization called Second Chance). His name was Eddie; he was a Boston terrier/pug mix; a real cute and energetic little guy. We’ll miss him!
